FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH VOTERS MEETING MINUTES
February 21, 2019
In attendance: Dean Ayers, Tom and Chris Buckthorpe, Pastor Moyer, Karen Cowart, Sherry Hanovich, Guy York, Steve Tino, Neil Hornbacher, Kathy VanGordon, and Jacque Rhodes.
The Voters Assembly was called to order by President, Dean Ayers at 8:00 p.m. Tom started the meeting with our Opening Prayer.
Previous meeting minutes were read by Sherry Hanovich. Chris motioned to accept minutes, Karen Coward second and all approved.
Pastor’s Report – Pastor Moyer reported there will be a new member reception on Sunday, May 5th, between services. There was a date change to the upcoming Communion Classes. They will be held three consecutive weeks, starting May 24th. Pastor also reported that the Faith Legacy Father/Son Outing went well. Pastor created a pamphlet for the men’s B&B and suggested that we create a pamphlet for each of the Faith ministries. He also proposed we set up a TV and scroll the upcoming events and ministries on Easter Sunday. Discussion took place and it was decided that a TV will be set up downstairs and another upstairs for this purpose. Pastor acknowledged and thanked Steve Tino and the Trustees for all the work that has gone into the overall technical improvements.
Board of Trustees – Steve Tino reported things are moving forward with the new phones and copy machine. We should have the copy machine installed by mid-April. We are having our alarm system reworked, cameras installed in office and lower foyer, and installing an electronic lock on lower entry doors. The trustees also finished most of the outside new window trim work. A work bee is planned for April to finish. Steve replied to Life Lines request for use of our building. The Life Line screening will take place June/July 2019.
Treasurers Report -The treasurers report was presented by Dean. Chris motioned to accept report, Steve Tino seconded and all approved. Report on file.
Music Ministry – Jacqueline announced there will be a choir rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. on April 17th. Our choir will perform on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, both Good Friday services and both Easter Sunday services. The chimes will perform at the 7:00 pm Good Friday service and the call to worship at the 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday service.
Old Business – Dean reported there will be a CPR training on May 4th at 9:00 a.m.
New Business – Dean reported that we are looking for a company to come in and do some shredding for us. They will inquire on cost and decide whether it’s feasible to open the shredding up to congregation and community (as a community outreach service).
Dean explained that people call into the office when inquiring about facility availability and it would be helpful to have the facility usage calendar at their fingertips. He requested ideas to make the calendar more accessible. Discussion took place, no decisions were made.
Dean requested our next Voters Assembly meeting be held April 17th at 6:00 p.m. All approved.
Pastor announced he will take some time off after Easter. There will be a guest pastor April 28th.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. by Dean. Tom closed the meeting with our closing prayer and the Lord’s Prayer.
